OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe in the duality of the God/Goddess and celebrate
the cycle of life. We choose to observe the Wiccan Ways
in order to attain spiritual growth and personal fulfillment.
We feel that everyone should have an opportunity to experience
the Divine without fear. Through openness and a
willingness to share our beliefs with others, this Coven
teaches the Wiccan Ways through participation, dialog, and
personal interaction. We do not claim to be the only way
to the Divine. Each of us must look within ourselves to
make that choice.
Merry Meet! We are Brendan, Ina, and Sharon the
Coven Founders.
Together, we facilitate the activities of the group and
advocate self-reflection, personal commitment and growth, and
education among the Coven members. Ina is a medical
professional and has been practicing the Craft since her
teenage years. She has deepened her commitment to the Craft in
recent years through research and study, organizing the Study
Group in 2006 and actively participating in the promotion and
development of the Coven. She enjoys spending time with
her family, reading, movies, camping and web design. Brendan
is a chemistry teacher, pewter-smith, and muralist whose
interests lie in the historical basis for Wicca, the
development of religion, and its impact on society.
He has been following a spiritual path for over
25 years and leads our study group sessions.
While Brendan is often to be found with his nose in yet
another book, he also enjoys playing in the dirt, medieval and
roman history, and thinks that the hammer is humankind's
greatest technological advancement. After all, you can
beat a computer with a hammer but you can't drive a nail with
a computer. Sharon is an accomplished writer, naturalist
and entrepreneur. You can find Sharon all over the
Internet as frootbat31 on various blogs, writers forums and
her various sites. She is a committed home schooler who
possesses an infinite store of knowledge and wisdom; however,
please be sure your teacup is empty when you ask - it will be
filled very quickly.
The Unorthodox Dirt Children are children of the Goddess
who believe that the Earth is our Mother and who do not follow
any of the established hierarchical traditions or their
structures. There are no degrees or initiations required
for full participation in the Coven. It is expected that
any and all members subscribe to the basic tenets of the
Craft, and be sincere in their commitment to follow the Wiccan
path. Members of the Coven share in the
responsibility of contributing at Ritual, teaching, and
organizing workshops. We recognize the talents,
strengths, and uniqueness that each member has to offer
the Coven and we seek to further develop those
qualities.
A Coven is in many ways an extended family,
and members are treated as such. Families sometimes do not
see eye to eye, but they come to a level of mutual
understanding which allows for the family to grow and succeed
and yet also accommodate differing viewpoints.
HOW TO JOIN
If you like what you've read so far, agree with it, and
think you might like to meet us . . . the best way to get
involved is to contact Brendan, Ina or Sharon. We want
to meet you, interact with you and get to know you. We hope
that you will have questions for us. While we may not
have all the answers, we can certainly find the answers
together. We'll have some questions for you, too.
Membership in the Coven is based on your level of commitment.
You may choose to be an Associate or you may seek something
deeper. Please refer to the section on Coven Members for
further details. Membership is not required Study Group
sessions but if you are not the guest of a current Coven
Member, you must contact the Founders to attend. Please feel free to call or
email if
there are any questions we can answer for you. We
are looking forward to hearing from you.
Bright Blessings
